LTS X-VMS

Hosted LTS vs Local LTS

A comparison of a hosted and a local LTS X-VMS access control system.

When customers are looking for an access control system, one of the systems we recommend is the X-VMS Access Control system by LTS. When an LTS system is being designed, one of the first questions we ask is where you want to manage your equipment from.

Out of that discussion, Garber Connect offers the Garber Cloud for your LTS equipment hosting — security, ease of access, and high availability for your access control needs without the headache of maintaining another server.

Cloud hosting

Hosting by Garber Cloud

Advantages

  • No local server
  • No need to update your server
  • Accessible from anywhere in the United States
  • You have time for the important stuff

Disadvantages

  • Requires the Garber Cloud and the customer site to have reliable internet connections

If a customer site loses internet, or the Garber Cloud is undergoing maintenance, the LTS access control system will continue to operate — but remote access and configuration changes will not work until connectivity is restored.

Local computer

  • You have complete control
  • No internet access is required if remote access is not needed

Disadvantages

  • You need to secure your server
  • You need to patch your server
  • You are in charge of setting up secure access to your server, if remote access is required
